Creamy Garlic Mushroom Toast
Elevate your breakfast or brunch with this savory mushroom toast. Sautéed mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce, piled high on toasted bread, create a flavorful and satisfying dish.
Ingredients
- 4 slices Crusty Bread (Sourdough or similar)
- 250 grams Mixed Mushrooms (Cremini, Shiitake, Oyster)
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 1 tablespoon, chopped Fresh Thyme
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoon, chopped (for garnish) Fresh Parsley
Preparing the Mushrooms
Begin by cleaning the mushrooms. Gently wipe them with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Slice or quarter the larger mushrooms into bite-sized pieces.
Sautéing the Mushrooms
In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they are softened and have released their moisture. Continue cooking until the moisture has evaporated and the mushrooms are lightly browned.
Creating the Creamy Sauce
Pour in the heavy cream and add the chopped fresh thyme. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until it has slightly thickened.
Toasting the Bread
While the mushrooms are cooking, toast the bread slices to your desired level of crispness. You can use a toaster, oven, or skillet.
Assembling the Toast
Spoon the creamy garlic mushrooms generously over the toasted bread slices. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Serving
Serve the mushroom toast immediately. Enjoy!
